Approved Volunteer Locations. Here are approved locations to help you identify where to volunteer.

Education & Youth Support

Health & Wellness 

Food Insecurity & Basic Needs

·  Local elementary, middle, or high schools (library help, tutoring, event support) 

· YMCA or Boys & Girls Club

·After-school or youth mentoring programs

· For Oak Cliff

· American Red Cross 

·  Local hospitals or community health fairs (non-clinical volunteer roles)

· Ronald McDonald House 

· North Texas Food Bank 

·  Minnie’s Food Pantry

· Salvation Army (food/clothing distribution)

· Harmony Food Pantry

Neighborhood & Environmental Care

Senior Support

Animal Welfare

· City of Dallas Community Clean-Up Events

Track Hours

· MLK Center in Dallas

· Local faith-based or nonprofit community outreach events (must benefit the public—not just the congregation)

· Set up & break down for an afterschool activity/event, organized by Gilliam staff.

· Volunteer during an afterschool event for parents organized by Gilliam Staff.

(i.e. – recruitment events, school tours for incoming students, and parent meetings.)

Parents: You can track your student’s community service hours by scanning the QR code and selecting your student’s graduation class. You will need your student’s ID number to access this information.

  • Family-owned businesses 
  • Babysitting for relatives or neighbors
  • Helping friends or family with personal errands 
  •  Unverifiable work with no contact person or signed documentation 

All hours must:

  • Be supervised (Meaning someone from their facility is there and present)
  • Include a printed name, signature, and contact info.
  • Serve a genuine community need

Not sure if it counts?

  • If you are unsure whether a location or activity qualifies for community service, please check with Ms. Castaneda before completing your hours. Getting approval in advance helps avoid any confusion.
