Phone Policy
Students are not allowed to use any personal devices during the school day. Device means a telephone, cell phone such as a smartphone or flip phone, tablet, smartwatch, radio device, paging device, or any other electronic device capable of telecommunication or digital communication.
The term does not include an electronic device provided to a student by a school district.
Each student will be issued a cell phone pouch. The student will be responsible for bringing the assigned secure cell phone pouch to school each day.
Pouches will be checked, and students will be charged $20 for a damaged or lost pouch.
Students may not bring personal devices to school until a pouch has been purchased. If they bring personal devices, they will be taken up, and a parent or guardian will be notified to pick them up.
1. The first time a cell phone is confiscated, parents/guardians will be contacted and may pick it up with no fee assessed.
2. The second time a device is confiscated, parents/guardians may pick it up and pay an administrative fee of $5. Parents/guardians will be notified that the student’s device has been confiscated for the second time.
3. The third time a device is confiscated, parents/guardians may pick it up and pay an administrative fee of $10.Parents/guardians will be notified that the student’s device has been confiscated for the third time.
4. The fourth time a device is confiscated, parents/guardians may pick it up and pay an administrative fee of $15 with a mandatory parent conference.
5. Students refusing to give the device to school personnel will be subject to Level II disciplinary actions as explained in the DISD Student Code of Conduct.
Any device not claimed by September 1 following the end of the school year will be disposed of in accordance with FNCE (LEGAL).
